We all know the obvious. IITs get a crowd of companies who want to hire IIT students.
A very common approach in selecting MTech institutes is to select them by their placement success (by referring to their respective MTech placement data). Some say the approach is wrong, but, placement data, if good, serves as a reassurance.
Here is the 2009-10 placement report of IIT Madras. It has been provided just as a sample. Other institutes may not provide such an informative report but their reports will usually serve your purpose.
A candidate needs to feel reassured when he/she decides to go for MTech instead of job. Expected salary and probability of finding desired employment is a Must-be-determined criterion for many candidates.
So our advice is, visit the websites of the Institutes and look for placement statistics. A lot of candidates have even changed their desired course of MTech because not many companies hired graduates from those courses. This is particularly important if you wish to go for “New courses” or “Allied courses”.
