MTech Admissions Process

MTech Admissions are not the same as BTech admissions. There is no “counseling”. You need to directly apply to Institutes and programs of your choice.
MTech Institutes generally use one or more of the following criteria:

GATE Score
Another written test after preliminary selection based on GATE score
Interview
BTech performance

Note that MTech admission process differs even from IIT to IIT and NIT to NIT. Make sure you have read detailed instructions and criteria of all Institutes you are applying to.
Sometimes, many institutes, including the IITs and the NITs call for second round of admissions. So we advise candidates to stay with the admissions process and check their mailboxes regularly. A lot of candidates manage to get a “lucky admission” in some top institutes.
In summary,

Read the Information Brochures very carefully FOR EVERY INSTITUTE.
Stay till the end of admission schedule if you don’t get desired seat in the first round.
Don’t assume same criteria for all Institutes.
